Genus Insight explained

Boards, EXP, analysis, lock costs, and when slot 4 is worth fishing.

Five boards
Each genus has its own board with nine slots. Slot 1 is open from the start. Each insight level through 9 opens the next slot. Level 10 is the cap named by Wikily, Aion 2 Timers, and Aion 2 Maps. Aion 2 Atlas notes that sources disagree on 9 slots versus level 10, so this site does not pretend the cap is a tooltip we captured.
Where EXP comes from
Unlock a pet: 500. Reach insight 2: 250. Reach insight 3: 250. Each analysis adds 100 EXP per open slot (Wikily). A fully maxed pet is 1,000 EXP before any crystals, which matches the "1,000 per maxed pet" note on Aion 2 Maps.
Raid Relay (Global launcher 27, 14 Oct 2026) publishes the board curve: insight 2 at 500 EXP, 3 at 2,000, 4 at 5,000, 5 at 10,000, 6 at 20,000, 7 at 40,000, 8 at 80,000, 9 at 150,000, and 10 at 250,000. Insight 4 at 5,000 also matches AION2 Builds, so that one step is cross-checked. The other steps are Raid Relay alone. The calculator shows which level that curve would reach. It does not pretend the curve is a tooltip we captured.
The same page says one genus can gain at most 65,000 EXP from its own pets, which is 65 maxed Fera pets at 1,000 each. Insight 10 at 250,000 is mostly analyses after that.
Locks
Nothing locked: 4 crystals and 1,000 Kinah. One lock: 8 and 2,000. The table doubles-and-then-some up to eight locks at 396 crystals and 99,000 Kinah. Full table is on the calculator and on sources.
Aion 2 Maps says unique-or-better is at most 5% below insight 9, about 11% at 9, and 20% at 10. Do the cheap analyses first. Lock only a line you would keep at the top of its range.
Slot 4
Guides single out slot 4 as the genus damage line, and slot 7 as the other special slot. Aion2 Codex names examples: Cogni critical damage, Fera weapon damage, Natura multi-hit, Varian positional damage, Special Smite. Aion 2 Maps says the English client calls Smite "Double Chance".
Those names are a synthesis of datamines and guides. They are not a promise that your next analysis rolls them.
