How Aion 2 pets work

Reviewed 2026-10-15 · 3 min read

Souls, insight levels, owned effects, and why the genus matters more than the species.

Pets are account power

A pet in Aion 2 is a mount and a permanent stat line. Owned effects stay on when the pet is not summoned. Progress is shared by characters on the same server.

The global client stops pet insight at level 3. AION2 Guide reports that Korea and Taiwan already have level 5. This site does not copy Korean level 5 costs onto global.

The level 10 story quest All Geared Up, also called Gathering Essentials, opens the Pets window and lets you pick Fossa, Armadon, or Tog. Daeva Guides and Raid Relay agree on those three. Field souls still matter after the pick: the quest does not max the pet.

Five genera, one effect each

Cogni, Fera, Natura, Varian, and Special. Pets in the same genus share the insight 3 owned effect. Daeva Guides, Wikily, and AION2 Builds all state that rule. A "best pet" list that ranks species by combat power is ranking the wrong object.

See the full pet list and each genus page.

Soul costs

5 souls unlock the pet (insight 1) and grant 500 Genus Insight EXP. 25 more souls reach insight 2 and grant 250 EXP. 75 more reach insight 3 and grant 250 EXP. The total is 105 souls.

Cogni is the only genus whose insight 1 and 2 stat lines are published in a form we could cross-check (Wikily: HP 10, then HP 20 and Critical Hit 1, then the level 3 line). Other genera are shown here at level 3 only.

What to do first

Unlock many different pets before you max one. Each new pet is 5 souls and 500 EXP. Then push the genus you care about to insight 3.

Read soul crystal farming once a pet is maxed, because family crystals start dropping from those monsters.
